Support with
workplace safety.

I support organisations with training and safety advice on a freelance basis. Before an assignment begins, we discuss the challenge and the support it requires.

01

Training & safety culture

I deliver training tailored to a team’s everyday work. Participants explore familiar situations and discuss what safe working requires. This supports safety awareness and the development of a stronger safety culture.

  • Practical training tailored to everyday tasks.
  • Short safety briefings, known as toolbox talks, about risks in the team’s own workplace.
  • Facilitated discussions about speaking up when behaviour is unsafe.
  • Agreed improvements with the team and a follow-up to discuss their use in practice.

Safety culture does not change after a single training session. We also discuss how to keep using the agreed practices in everyday work.

02

VCA & safety documentation

I help prepare for VCA, a contractor safety certification scheme used in the Netherlands. An external body assesses how the organisation manages safe working. I help organise the safety documentation and identify what still needs to be added.

  • Reviewing existing documents and identifying what needs updating.
  • Drafting or updating safety protocols and work instructions.
  • Preparing records for a VCA process and managing document versions.
  • Preparing Dutch documentation or English drafts, with the content agreed together.

Formal VCA assessment and certification are carried out by an authorised certification body. My role is to support preparation.

03

Risk analysis

I organise risk information and help establish priorities. The analysis shows which measures are already in place and where further attention is needed.

  • Document research and interviews for an initial risk review.
  • Support with updating an existing risk profile.
  • Prioritising risks using the available information.
  • An action plan with assigned responsibilities and a follow-up point.

An initial risk review is not a statutory assessment of a Dutch RI&E (risk inventory and evaluation). Where formal validation is required, we involve an appropriately certified expert.

04

Crisis preparedness

I help organisations prepare for incidents. In a tabletop exercise, a team talks through a possible incident step by step. This helps check whether the agreed roles and lines of contact would work in practice.

  • Documenting roles and lines of contact for an incident.
  • Developing scenarios relevant to the organisation.
  • Preparing and facilitating a scenario discussion or tabletop exercise.
  • Turning lessons from an evaluation into follow-up actions.

This support focuses on preparation. Operational crisis command and specialist emergency response are outside the scope of this service.

Other assignments

A different safety challenge?

Other assignments are possible by agreement. An introductory conversation helps establish whether the work fits my expertise and what support would be appropriate.

Engaging an independent professional

How an assignment works.

An assignment might be a single training session or a longer project. Contact is directly with me. Before work begins, we agree on the intended outcome and the information required.

01

Getting acquainted

We discuss the challenge and explore whether my support is a good fit.

02

Agreeing the assignment

A proposal describes the intended outcome and sets out the schedule and costs.

03

Doing the work

I discuss the content with the client as work progresses. We involve additional expertise where needed.

04

Handing over

I explain the outcome and we agree which next steps the organisation will take.

Ways of working

Remote or on site.

Working online

Safety documentation can often be prepared remotely. Interviews and training preparation can also take place online, provided there is enough information about the working environment.

In the workplace

Workplace training or reviewing the physical environment may require a visit. We agree on attendance to suit the assignment and the team.

Assignments in the Netherlands and on Bonaire

Availability and any travel or accommodation costs are agreed in advance. For work on Bonaire, we take account of local conditions and applicable rules. These are not automatically the same as in the European Netherlands.

Good to know

Questions?

Practical questions about how an assignment is carried out.

Discuss an assignment
Can an assignment be entirely remote?

It depends on the work involved. Documentation can often be handled online. Training or understanding the workplace may require attendance. We agree on this in advance.

How much does the support cost?

Costs are set out in a proposal based on the scope of the assignment. They are agreed before work begins, with any travel expenses listed separately.
